Plan a Highland Adventure for September 2020!

šŸ· You canā€™t visit the Highlands without trying some of the local cool climate wines, ciders, meads and beer. Suitable for all ages to enjoy especially on our beautiful spring days, take a picnic rug or grab a table at Artemis at Mittagong. Itā€™s a pretty cellar door where you can enjoy cheese & charcuterie or pizza amongst the vines alongside whatever takes your fancy on tastings front.

šŸ“Ā  School hols start at the end of September so make sure to book ahead & secure some really fun, memorable outdoor activities for the kids. Several of our younger guests have loved horse riding at Shibumi Equestrian Centre or ziplining at Illawarra Fly. Plenty of free activities too – one of the many kid friendly walks is the Box Vale Track and fabulous echo tunnel, BYO bikes & trikes for an easy roll along Bong Bong Common or bring the skateboard to the popular Bundy Skate Park

šŸŠĀ  What better way to support local growers & makers than visiting the Markets which make their way around the beautiful Highland villages and towns each month. First Saturday each month itā€™s Exeter Village Markets, followed by Bundanoon Makers Market the first and third Sundays, and Bowral Markets the second and fourth Saturdays. Check Visit Southern Highlands for updates to the monthly schedule due to COVID restrictions.

šŸ°Ā  Experience dine in or takeaway at BIRCH restaurant Moss Vale. Renowned for their creative use of locally grown produce, beautiful presentation & service BIRCH is a great choice for a special night in the Highlands. But make sure to book ahead as their seats go fast! Check out their ā€œA Taste of Cheffingā€ competition too, with entries due September 13. OR simply pre-order BIRCH online mid-week for weekend pick up so you can have a lovely BIRCH meal & beverages from the comfort of your chosen Highlands accommodation! Weā€™ve done it, and itā€™s a real treat!

šŸ–¼ For the creatives, Ashton Park Moss Vale are hosting a drawing and painting weekend workshop (19-20 Sept) with talented artists Jonathon Throsby and Sal Falkiner. ā€œCapturing a Sense of Placeā€ will be held at the character filled farm, where attendees can explore their creative sides plus enjoy the gardens, paddocks & country style hospitality with lunch & refreshments included.

šŸš—Ā  To really appreciate the change in seasons, take a scenic drive through the green rolling hills & tree lined paddocks of the Southern Highlands as they come back to life post winter. Stop in at the pretty historic villages along the way, the locals will love your support.
