5 Fab Winter To Dos in the Highlands

Illawarra Fly, Southern Highlands

🎢  Visit Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures near Robertson for stunning treetop walks over the escarpment and zipline tours for the adventurers in the family – the ones who like the wind in their hair! For the younger ones there is a cute Gruffalo Spotters Trail using an app and special markers to bring characters in the storybook to life too.

🍷 Enjoy a really fun and informative personalised small group tour to selected local cool climate vineyards and boutique brewers with Marc’s Highland Tours. A light lunch is included and Marc has years of experience in the wine industry to share. Loving the sound of a designated driver too!

🍳 Make a weekend of it in the Highlands with some friends and book in to cook up a storm with Mumma’s Country Kitchen. There are a range of delicious looking weekend winter warmer cooking classes on farm including “all about pastry” and “paddock to plate” workshops this August. Sounds perfect fodder for budding cooks now that we’re truly mid-winter here.

🖼 Discover the beautiful arts and crafts at Sturt Gallery and Café at Mittagong. Year round the Gallery showcases the talents of the Sturt creative community featuring furniture, ceramics, jewellery, drawing, painting, photography and printmaking. In early August they are setting up a new exhibit called “Emergence” – selected paintings, prints and sculptures by local makers. Worth checking for opening dates for this one!

🎁 Indulge yourself a little and book Thrive Mobile Massage for some well-deserved pampering during your stay in the Highlands, wherever it is you plan to stay. Thrive will come to you – what a treat!

Most importantly, if you’re planning a Highlands weekend in August, make sure to book ahead for any activities or meals out to avoid disappointment. Happy to help if any further suggestions needed. There’s lots to choose from!
