November 2020 To Dos in the Highlands

Lots On in the Highlands in November 2020 – FIVE great ideas for starters!

🖼 Follow the Southern Highlands Arts Trail 2020 November 7/8 & 14/15. The opportunity to meet 80 Highland artists in studios and galleries, see how they create their work & support local with the odd purchase & stops for sustenance of course! Full program here, including painting, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, woodwork, photography, sculpture and printmaking.  Especially looking forward to visiting talented Bundanoon local makers Reid Brothers Furniture at Studio 27 & The Quiet Lion Studio (fashion) & Carmel Slater (painter) in Studio 26. Also high on the gallery agenda are Artists of the Round Yard at historic Retford Park in Bowral, and wonderful Sturt Craft Centre at Mittagong

🚗 Take a short Sunday drive (any day of the week) to neighbouring Sutton Forest – rolling green hills, historic estates, hedges & driveways with some wine tasting & treats along the way. First stop on Oldbury Road is Southern Highlands Winery for a tasting, then a drive past Whitley estate, & onwards towards Oldbury Farm, one of the oldest in the district dating back to the 1820’s. Both farm estates are privately owned & heritage listed with magnificent gardens & the best ever hedges. Great for gazing at from the comfort of the car! On your way home stop in at Sutton Forest Cafe for the best spanokopita & a coffee.

🎵 Some great live music scheduled Bowral Bowls in November – Mahalia Barnes is playing on the 9th, and Steve Balbi from Noiseworks on the 16th. It’s a great venue for these cabaret style shows with an intimate 60 tickets available each night so worth planning ahead for these ones!

👛 Shop up a storm at Moss Vale – dare I say it’s only 2 months till Xmas! Unique pantry and providore items BIRCH Store, beautifully crafted goodies Made by Others, Nest and Burrow, Bowerbird on Argyle & Mossy Store and of course gorgeous Suzie Anderson Home.

⛱ As the weather gets warmer, make the most of this gorgeous Southern Highlands weather and fresh country air, and take the family to one of the local pubs for lunch in the beer garden, where there’s plenty to keep the kids busy too whilst you wait for the burgers: Sutton Forest Inn, Bundanoon Hotel & Burrawang Village Hotel.
