Highland Foodie Adventures this Winter

If you’re plotting a few wintery nights getaway in the Southern Highlands here are some wonderful foodie adventures that are worth planning your trip around:

🏫 The wonderful Voor Ouker Indonesian Pop Up Restaurant is back in historic Exeter Village Hall on Friday and Saturday 23rd and 24th August nights! Katrina and her team are passionate about their food, offering a fun dining experience, and fostering community connections. They’ve been successfully bringing their new flavours and this unique experience to selected Community Halls in Victoria and New South Wales. Teamed with renowned Exeter winemaker Dawning Day Wines this is a special event to book ahead.

🕯️Rug up and book in for a Night Tour of the Mittagong historic railway tunnel where Little Mountain Mushrooms farm their gourmet mushrooms. Check out how they grow the exotic mushrooms and learn about the original construction and history of the tunnel. A behind the scenes look at an exotic mushroom farm – something unique to plan your weekend around! Tours are every Friday and Saturday night, from 5-6.30pm until the end of September 2024. Afterwards book at one of the many restaurants in Bowral or Mittagong for a warming finish to a special evening.

🍷 Meanwhile on Sunday 25th August Bottega B Ristorante at Bundanoon have scheduled another popular regional night, this time celebrating the food of Central Italy with a five course degustation menu. With a full wine list on offer which includes wines from the region too. Always popular so get in early!

🍽️ What a combo… popular Franquette Creperie (near the Empire Cinema in Bowral) are teaming up with wonderful Highlands chef and caterer Flavours by Dee for a one off event at Franquette on 30th August, promising a delicious culinary journey from Malaysia to France. Make sure to book early for this one.

🍾 Date night is now sorted thanks to lovely Flour Bar in the heart of Moss Vale, where it’s date night every night! Book online – only $45 pp for a delicious spread of dishes to share with your someone special. Alternatively pop in to enjoy a sneaky cocktail, interesting wines and some lovely bites, baked in house by the passionate foodie team at Flour Bar.

🥩 Another special Highlands treat is the famous “Fire Feast” at beautiful Osborn House in Bundanoon. Experience one of these long lunch Sunday sessions (through until November) showcasing the South American tradition of live fire cooking, with the gorgeous Morton National Park as your backdrop. Check the website for dates and snap up a spot with your special ones.
