Five Fab Food and Bev Takeaways September 2021

🍔 Boozy Burgers and Eden Brewery are such a tasty combo. The food truck serves up classic & fresh burger options including the double boozy deluxe burger or the crumbed and beer braised mushroom burger. All work so well with the locally brewed craft beers & ciders from right next door at the Brewery. Check out opening times at Mittagong  & either pickup or order the local “hot burgers and cold beer” delivery currently on offer.

🍷 Exeter General Store have a cabinet loaded with essentials (& treats) & a freezer full of delish dinner inspiration to take home and reheat. We’ve had the beef lasagne on repeat, just add salad, but there are delish curries, chicken cacciatore, soups and other classics on offer too. To complement the meal, check out the online offerings of family run St Maur Wines just outside of Exeter. We love them for their small batch production of pinot noir, cabernet, merlot and chardonnay too.

🥩 Birch Store at Moss Vale is a firm favourite for us with their lovely providore shop and online store. Recently we’ve enjoyed their ready to cook range, especially the osso bucco in Napoli sauce or the marinated lamb shanks, showcasing local legend butchery Mauger’s Meats then just add veg or salad. Also suggest a glass or two of cool climate Dawning Day wines (a new small vineyard at Exeter) to go with your dinner – order online.

🍩 Black Hen Kitchen is a talented Highlands caterer & baker, making everything from scratch, & currently doing scrumptious mixed boxes of six doughnuts with contactless delivery/pickup. I can’t go past the one described as “tiramisu / amaretto cream / hazelnut crumble” – yum! Perhaps a glass of local Cherry Tree Hill Rose would round off a doughnut afternoon nicely as we move into Spring.

🍕 Bottega B Ristorante & Pizzeria at Bundanoon is reliably good, loved by locals, & has a full takeaway menu of pizza, pasta, salads, sides, family classics and desserts so there’s something for everyone. Just ring ahead to order. And to accompany, just visit Artemis Wines online to order some of their cool climate Highland wines. Based at Mittagong, they were the first winemakers in this region to plant Pinot Noir – where would we be without them!
